Vegas Baby!

We are so excited! JAX IS HOME IN UTAH! Trevor and I took off Tuesday at 5:30 in the morning and headed to Las Vegas to pick up Jax! It was a great trip just us and the road! It was a beautiful ride to Vegas and once we got there we went to the petro truckstop by the Las Vegas Speedway! We sat there for 2 1/2 hours waiting anxiously! We got to watch the Nellis Air Force Base fighter pilots go out for training and come back in. It was great, they were so loud! While we were sitting there, the fighter pilots came in and circled over our heads and they set off a ford pickup's alarm system! It was funny! We got to also watch the nascar cars and trucks come in! It was so cool to see them but then we talked about how expensive it must be to have all that equipment and it was amazing how chromed out the trucks were and how well taken they were! Finally he showed up and we loaded him in the trailer and hauled butt home! Once we got home at 10:30 pm we had to collect him and breed him to 3 mares! He was a little champion! Here is a photo we took of him on Wednesday! We will be getting more tomorrow and i will post them here!

Great Weekend in Hurricane

After this past week going to Hurricane for the APHA/AQHA Show was a great mini vacation! And then... On Saturday a client showed his horse and swept the whole class. He won the amateur and open and grand & reserve stallions! Then the two year old stallion we showed won his class and took reserve stallion for the show! And then my boss had sold one of his horses and it was the kid's first time ever showing in a breed show and he took a third and fourth, which is not bad at all because the first and second horse, you will never beat! He was really excited! And for the best news in the world! Hal and I had talked about some stallion prospects for me to look into and on saturday he printed pictures out of a nice stallion to show me and then would never show them to me. Right before we showed the gelding he took me out side and asked, "How would you like to own a two year old stallion?" I was like, "Which one" and he said, "A horse by the name of Cool Skipin Awesome!" I thought I was going to pass out! We then went and talked to the people that sold him to me and i started crying! They just didn't want to have to limit the mares they breed each year, so we made it into unlimited breedings and we are going to pick him up on tuesday in vegas!! I am so happy!

One Bad Week

Wow, you know it really sucks when the weeks starts out bad and just gets worse and by friday you hope nothing else happens! On Monday a stallion we are standing came up for being positive for a microbial infection so we can't breed anything to him right now. On Tuesday we brought a mare in to wait for her to foal, well she wasn't doing anything monday night and so my boss didn't watch her. He came out tuesday morning and found the baby with it's head stuck under the belting in our stalls unable to nurse or anything. They got a hold of the vet who was in price with me at the humane society clinic and he told them what to do while i flew down there as fast as i could to help. The baby was doing ok and seemed to be getting stronger, but at 3:30 they called and said the baby passed away. On Wednesday, i had turned my filly that i am riding out in the arena to run off a little bit of steam before i rode her and she took off at a dead run and slid right into the fence and skinned herself up quite a bit. And hopefully last but not least, i e-mailed the guy who i had bought my new stallion from, contract signed and everything, and he replyed back, 2 days before i am to bring this horse home!, that he has decided he wants to keep the horse for himself and he isn't going to sell it. I was devastated! How could someone do that, wait two days before you bring something home to say that they want to keep it. We have mares waiting to be bred to him and have paid insurance, got testing done, and everything, and he backs out! Makes me so mad but sad at the same time. Now i have to go to the show this weekend and face him. Will keep everyone updated! Hopefully this week won't get worse!
